There is a very particular kind of afternoon that Majorca does better than almost anywhere else in the Mediterranean: sunbeds a few steps from turquoise water, a chilled glass of albariño, and the low hum of a DJ set as the sun drops. That is the beach club experience, and the island's southwest coast has some of the finest examples in Spain.

Illetas, Puerto Portals & Portals Nous
Puerto Portals has been Majorca's glossiest marina since the 1980s, and the beach clubs around it have grown up to match — polished, sociable, and never far from a superyacht or two.
Purobeach Illetas
Built straight into the cliff face at Illetas, Purobeach Illetas skips the pool altogether — the open sea is the main event, with guests leaping straight off the rocks into the water. All-white furniture against deep blue sea, Arabian-inspired arches, a natural cave, and a lookout point over the whole Bay of Palma make this one of the most photographed clubs on the island. Book ahead — it's a regular anchor point for yachts arriving by tender.
Lobster Club
Right on the water at Puerto Portals, Lobster Club pairs open sea views with a relaxed, upscale pool and lounge scene. Expect ice-cold drinks, DJ sessions that build gently through the afternoon, and a setting that looks its best around golden hour.
UM Beach House
Just next door in Portals Nous, UM Beach House leans into a Balinese, boho-chic aesthetic — daybeds, natural textures, and a pool that looks straight out over the bay. It's also one of the few clubs on this stretch that stays open through the cooler months, a good option outside peak summer.
Mood Beach Club
Set above the harbour in Portals Nous, Mood Beach is a quieter, more understated choice — a pool terrace with sweeping views, better suited to a long lazy lunch than a party afternoon.
Port Andratx
Further along the coast, Port Andratx trades polish for drama — dramatic cliffs, a working fishing harbour, and one of the most striking beach club settings on the island.
Gran Folies
Tucked into the rock formations of Cala Llamp, Gran Folies is built almost directly into the cove. A saltwater infinity pool, Balinese-style beds set among the rocks, and Mediterranean cuisine served in a genuinely private, away-from-it-all atmosphere make this one of the most photographed — and least crowded — beach clubs on the island.
Aqua Beach Club
Right on the beach at Sant Elm, a short drive past Port Andratx, Aqua Beach Club looks straight out at the rocky silhouette of Sa Dragonera across the water. This is a deliberately calmer scene than the party clubs further up the coast — sunbeds and hammocks, Mediterranean-Majorcan cooking built on local, seasonal produce, and some of the best sunset views on the island as the light drops behind the nature reserve.
Santa Ponsa & Port Adriano
This stretch blends a lively family beach resort with the sleek, Philippe Starck-designed marina at Port Adriano, so the beach day here comes in two distinct flavours.
El Chiringuito Beach Bar
On a rocky platform at Costa de la Calma, this is a proper laid-back chiringuito rather than a designer club — simple, west-facing, and one of the best spots on the coast for sunset drinks with your feet still sandy.
Port Adriano's waterfront bars
Port Adriano itself is less about sunbeds and more about marina life: waterfront restaurants and bars where you can watch the yachts come in over a long lunch or evening cocktail. A different kind of beach day, better suited to an evening out.
Palmanova & Calvià
Just around the headland from Portals, Palmanova and Calvià are home to two of the biggest names in Majorca's beach club scene.
Beso Beach Club
A bohemian, beachfront setting right on the sand at Palmanova, Beso Beach is known for its Basque-Mediterranean menu, creative cocktails, and an easy, stylish crowd — equally good for a long lunch or sunset drinks.
Nikki Beach
Over in Calvià, Nikki Beach is the island's most polished party beach club — poolside DJ sets, an international crowd, and an atmosphere that builds into a proper evening out. Book a sunbed in advance in high season; it fills up fast.
Sa Ràpita & Es Trenc: the South Coast
If the clubs above are all about polish, the south coast near Sa Ràpita is the opposite — and for many of our guests, it's the highlight of their stay.
Es Trenc, a short drive from Sa Ràpita, is often called Majorca's answer to the Caribbean: nearly three kilometres of protected white sand and shallow, impossibly clear water, with almost no development along the shore. You won't find polished beach clubs here — the area sits within a protected natural reserve — but a handful of genuinely good chiringuitos serve fresh, simple food a few steps from the sand.
A Few Tips Before You Go
- Reserve sunbeds in advance during July and August — Nikki Beach and Gran Folies fill up fast.
- Check the dress code. Most clubs are relaxed by day but expect smarter attire for evening dining.
- Go early or go late. Arriving by mid-morning or after 4pm generally means calmer pools and easier parking.
- Bring cash for the smaller chiringuitos, particularly around Es Trenc, where card payment isn't always available.
